Gary is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who fronted and formed the popular 90s jamband, Jiggle the Handle. After three CD releases and numerous national tours over the years, the band decided to part ways, playing their last show at the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival in August 2001. The band occasionally regroups in Boston for reunion tours. Today, Gary performs with his band, The Gary Backstrom Band, a high-energy, innovative original act featuring Gary's infectious guitar licks and songwriting, the mesmerizing grooves of keyboardist Chris Nemitz, and the dynamic and soulful rhythm section of bassist Everett Pendleton and drummer Michael Doyle. The band's music features clever, hook-filled songwriting and arrangements with intense interaction among the musicians.
