While Seattle, Washington is known as the "birthplace of grunge", Los Angeles, California gave rise to a new sound in rock that combined elements of metal, funk, rap and punk. This "alternative" form of rock was filled with heavy guitars, deep bass and passionate lyrics that had a message. Combine this with explosive stage shows, and you have the birthing of a musical culture that reached the hearts of the younger generation of the 90s who were looking for something more. The bands Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tool, all from L.A., epitomize this aggressive blend of music and propelled its fresh sound from the underground club circuit to mainstream America in the early 90s. Showcase Live and Skyworks Productions have captured the spirit and essence of these legendary California bands by bringing together--in one night, under one roof--three of New England's hottest premier alternative rock tribute bands: AGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, SCAR TISSUE, and TOOLFIST!  Tickets are going fast so order yours online today!

Planet of the Abts

With over 1.5 million downloads, the Grammy-nominated rock band Gov't Mule is legendary, and now two of its members have formed a new adventure: Planet of the Abts (POA). Each player highly-accredited in his own right, POA combines three powerful and extraordinary musicians: Gov't Mule's renowned drummer Matt Abts, bassist Jorgen Carlsson, also of Gov't Mule, and guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist T-Bone Andersson. In June 2011, POA performed their much anticipated debut show in Los Angeles and released an advance copy, limited edition CD recorded by acclaimed British engineer Steve Holroyd. With Pink Floydish shimmering soundscapes to full-throttle rock and roll that combines the raw power of the Stooges with Electric Ladyland musicianship, POA's studio recordings take the listener on a musical journey. The band’s live shows have proven that they sound just as powerful and multi-layered in the flesh as they do on record.  Connect with Planet of the Abts on Facebook:

Seeing THE SOFT PARADE is like reliving the legendary concerts Jim Morrison and The Doors performed over 40 years ago. The Soft Parade is internationally recognized as one of the most authentic, realistic tribute bands working today. They recreate, with stunning accuracy, the primal, poetic atmosphere of a vintage Doors concert. From the vintage musical instruments and sound equipment right down to stage clothing and hairstyles - watching The Soft Parade is as close to seeing the Doors as anyone can possibly get.  Fronting The Soft Parade is singer Joe Russo whose likeness to the legendary Jim Morrison holds audiences spellbound. He looks Morrison. He moves Morrison. And most importantly, he sings Morrison.  The Soft Parade has toured 20 countries, been joined onstage by original Doors guitarist Robby Krieger and has performed hundreds of concerts worldwide. The show is so hauntingly authentic that critics and fans continually use words like "eerie" and "chilling" to define the experience. Visit The Soft Parade's Official Webite:

This year marks the 15th Anniversary of Alice in Chains’s legendary MTV Unplugged performance, and Boston’s premier Alice in Chains tribute band, NUTSHELL recreates the infamous acoustic set in its entirety to celebrate! In April 1996, Alice in Chains emerged from a three-year hiatus by performing on the MTV Unplugged show, the acclaimed acoustic mini-series that allowed viewers to experience popular rock bands performing their material in its basic, purest musical form. Filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, the Alice in Chains episode turned out to be one of the most memorable editions of the series, and critics and fans alike hail it to be one of the best live acoustic performances of all time by a rock band. The band’s highest charting singles and heavy duty grunge-rock opuses such as “Rooster” and “Heaven Beside You” went over beautifully in their new, tight and emotionally-charged acoustic delivery. A live album of the performance was released in July 1996, which debuted at number three on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and was accompanied by a home video release. The album received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America and the home video received gold certification. While the performance was one of Alice in Chain’s final appearances with vocalist Layne Staley, Nutshell keeps the spirit alive by capturing its essence and presenting an authentic “unplugged” tribute show that honors the raw talent of this amazing band.  Visit Nutshell on MySpace:

Special guest opener, former vocalist for Beware the Ides and Rawhead Rex, and singer/songwriter  ERIC "SWEDE" JERNSTROM, brings his powerhouse vocals and emotional music to Showcase Live for a rare one-night only acoustic performance. Swede kicks off the show at 10pm and delivers an intensely personal musical journey of pleasure, pain, and self-discovery. Soulfully-crafted and expertly-delivered, Swede’s music is an offering of raw honesty and vulnerability that will move you from the first note to the last. Swede shares the stage with guitarist and long time friend/mentor, Randy Valley. A premier guitar instructor who has logged more than 30 years on the professional music circuit, Mr. Valley is well-known for his virtuoso playing style and dedication to his craft. Drummer, Craig Lindberg has shared the stage with Eric for over 20 years and brings his passionate style and mood-altering sounds to the audience with incredible feeling. Bassist, Chris “Broph” Brophy holds down the low end with soulful intensity. Joining “Swede” on Keyboards is Mr. Jeff Royds of the Bullethead fame and creator of, New England’s premier online marketing and social network for independent musicians. This night promises to be a celebration of musical passion, diversity and life.
